About Artdle

The story behind Artdle

The idea for Artdle came from Slack and Discord groups where we shared our daily Wordle results. Some grids would catch my eye as miniature and constrained pieces of pixel art. I wanted a way to collect and catalog them, a little like catching butterflies or cataloging specimens. I was also curious whether other people saw the same things I did.

That became Artdle. I’ve included some grid metrics that I think are pretty cool (look for “more stats” on a submission page). I’d love to see the collection grow into something people can explore in all sorts of ways.

Mostly, I hope you enjoy stretching your imagination. Some grids suggest a picture right away; others take a little longer. If you find something in yours, I encourage you to give it a name and share it.
